How to actually be fast in Neon Drift Rally

Anyone can finish a race in Neon Drift Rally. Finishing fast is a different skill, and it all comes down to how you treat your drifts. We dug into the timing and shaved real seconds off our runs.

The key insight: you don't drift to turn, you drift to charge boost. Even on gentle curves, tapping into a short drift builds meter you can cash in on the next straight. Pros string tiny drifts together where beginners just steer.

Release the boost early, not late. Dumping it at the start of a straight lets the acceleration ramp through the whole stretch. We lost a lot of time holding boost until the end before we figured that out.

Learn the shortcuts, but only the ones you can land cleanly. A missed jump costs more than the shortcut saves. Practice each one in a low-stakes race before relying on it in a timed run.

Lastly, race the ghost of your own best lap. Watching exactly where past-you braked makes it obvious where you're leaving time on the table.
